My First Book Review: Station Eleven

"Survival is Inefficient"

3.5/5 I enjoyed this book because it looks past the basic survival stories that we all love and digs into what happens *after* the survival. Shakespeare is discussed quite a bit. The characters often compare how we wrote these beautiful stories in a time before civilization as we know it, and they are performing the same stories now, once again in the "dark" ages.

This book is a true testament to art and how it affects the world around us, and how it makes us more 'human' and less animal.

One thing that bothered me was how quickly the story would move at some points. It felt the "after the collapse" pieces left you wanting for more details. However, i believe this to be the exact emotions our characters were feelings; constantly wanting to know what else is going on in the world beyond their sight.

All in all, an excellent and quick read with a beautiful reminder that we are privileged to live on this world and have the chance to do more than just survive.
